Michael Childers, Senior Pastor
Hello! I'm Michael Childers, Pastor of Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church.
I grew up in Brevard, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where my wife, Cheryl, and I were married in 1994.
Before entering ministry, I owned and operated an electrical contracting business for 25 years. Later in life, God called me into Gospel ministry. I have a deep passion for missions and the local church. Above all, my greatest passion is Jesus, and my desire is for everyone to know Him, love Him, and serve Him with their lives.
Cheryl and I are blessed with two grown sons, their wonderful wives, and four (perfect) grandchildren. When we're not chasing after the grandkids, we enjoy spending time together. I also enjoy racing, football, hunting, and the occasional round of golf.
I pray that you know Jesus and experience His great love. My desire is that everyone who walks through the doors of Lawing's Chapel will encounter the truth of God's Word, the hope found in Christ, and the love of a church family committed to serving Him.

HI! My name is Brandy Nichols and I am a lifelong resident of Maiden. I graduated from Maiden High School in 1999 followed by UNC-Charlotte in 2003.
It was during my time at UNCC the Lord called me into ministry which led me to seminary. I graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2006 with a degree in education and counseling. I have been in ministry for a little over 17 years.
I have 13-year-old twins, Lucy and Levi and a 10 year old, Oliver. I have been married to my husband, Kevin, for almost 15 years. He is my greatest helper in ministry.
I am most passionate about Jesus, my family and coffee (in that order)!

I was born and raised in Odessa, TX, and I hold an MA in Educational Leadership and a teaching degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin. I met my husband, Luke during a Youth Leadership Conference.
Luke was born and raised in Maiden, NC and we have been married since 2004. We are blessed with three wonderful children: Landon, London, and Logan. We also look forward to meeting Kyndon in Heaven one day.
Our family is passionate about helping students deepen their faith, learn about God's Word, and develop a personal relationship with Jesus. My favorite verse is Psalm 109:103

My name is Yvonne Travis and I came on staff at LCBC as the Office Administrator in February 2020.
I have been married to my best friend, William, for 36 years and I have lived in this area my whole life. We have three children – two of which are in heaven waiting on us. One is a child we never met and one is our son, Austin, who passed from cancer in 2016. Savannah is our youngest and she is an elementary school teacher. We also have a fur-baby that we all adore – a shih-tzu named Holly.
We attend Home Church where our family serves weekly in various areas.
In addition to working here at LCBC, I am the Preschool Director at Center View Preschool, where I have worked for 23 years.
When I’m not working I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends. I love my job here at LCBC – I enjoy seeing everyone and using my gifts and talents in such a welcoming environment.
